ABOUT THE FILM
"REFLECT" is an animated short which portrays Merrick's meditative journey as he discovers the beauty within his own self. However, inner peace is short lived when he discovers that there is darkness lurking to which he was not aware. The colorful fantastical world becomes shrouded in darkness as a sudden storm rages in the distance. The storm frightens him slightly but yet it beckons him to discover its cause. The film is supported by collateral elements such as three promotional posters and a 30 page art book.
Throughout the semester, all progress was documented weekly in a process book, which included a written proposal, intensive visual research, production plans and sketches, and much more.

CONCEPT ART
The concept art depicts the environment in which this film takes place. Using a painterly style, the environment contrasts with the aesthetic of the character's design. The colors are saturated to emphasize the fantasy-like version of Merrick's physical environment. The saturation changes drastically as the story continues as can be seen in the fourth image, the world becomes more bleak as the storm grows.

Three 18" x 24" promotional posters mounted on the wall during the exhibition.
"The Art of REFLECT" a 30-page hardcover book measuring 10" x 10". It displays the process of creating the film from early sketches to final shots. Sections include the synopsis, brief character bios, and the artist's methodologies.
